Barco de papel Cultural Center presented a lecture of the bilingual book of poems Libro Rebelde / Rebel Book by the poet Nicolás Linares Sánchez on October 13, 2018. Published under the Ultramarina Editorial label, the poems were translated into English by Ivonne Medina with a prologue by Carlos Manuel Rivera, PHD.
The poetry book Libro Rebelde / Rebel Book, is the last book of the author who resides in New York and brings with it a discharge of social poetry that touches on many topics of the daily life of our society. Nicolas Linares, has stood out for the harshness of his verses and a long commitment to social struggle, the protection of the environment and the cultural revolution.
Sobre el autor:
Nicolás Efrén Linares Sánchez. Bogotá, Colombia, 1982. He has lived in New York since 2004. He defines himself as a “poet, dad, rat, artivist, roamer and independent philosopher.” A Literature student at CUNY Hunter College, he is co-director of the ‘Poets in New York’ Collective with whom he organizes cultural events in the city. He works at East Elmhurst Community School Public Elementary School. He was director of the magazine ‘La Orgullosa Calaquita’, in addition to collaborating with different publications and magazines such as: Hybrido Magazine, El Barco Ebrio 1 and 2, Casa Tomada and Vecindad, among others. He has published the collections of poems: Los Hijos de Tisquesusa (Bogotá, 2004), SINASCO ‘Sindicato de Astronautas Colombianos’’ (New York, 2007) and Alteración del Orden Público (New York, 2009).
