Barco de Papel Cultural Center presented on December 21, 2016 to the poetry reading and presentation of Edwin Rendón, Colombian writer and poet. Rendón read poems from his book Poética del Territorio (Poetics of the Territory). The author Estefanía Herrera also read sections of her novel Lo que no quise decir (What I did not mean to say). The readings were presented by the Colombian author residing in New York, Gabriel Jaime Caro ‘Gajaka’
Edwin Rendón (Colombia) is a poet and teacher of Literature. He holds a degree in Spanish and Literature with a Master’s Degree in Literature.
His published works are: Poética del Territorio -Poetics of the territory (2014); Manual del Perdedor -The Loser Manual (2011, finalist work of the First City of Medellín Poetry Prize); Sobre un estudio de árboles – On a study of trees (2005, winner of the Isaías Gamboa National Poetry Prize); Escupitajo – Spit (2000). His texts have also been published in the Colombian Poetry Anthology of the Verso a Verso Foundation (2005) and in the Prometeo Magazine. Winner of the 2014 Antioquia Creative Talent Incentive Call. He has been a finalist in the International Poetry Contest Between the Lines “The word of my voice” Miami, 2015. He has participated as a guest poet at the Medellín International Poetry Festival. He was recognized in 2016 by the Ministry of National Education of Colombia as one of the best Spanish Language teachers in his country.
Estefanía Herrera has a deggree in caudiovisual languages communication from the University of Medellín and her book Lo que no quise decir (What I did not mean to say), her first short novel, won the Special Mention Young Woman Writer, awarded by the newspaper El Tiempo of Colombia. This recognition was given within the framework of the Young Women Talent 2015 contest, of the Mayor’s Office of Medellín.
